    1. An undergraduate student who wishes to apply for a Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan should click on the “Learn More” button under “MPN for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans” and then click on the “START” button to proceed with completing that MPN.
    2. A graduate/professional student who wishes to apply for an Unsubsidized Loan and a Graduate PLUS Loan should click on the “Learn More” button under “MPN for Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans” and then click on the “START” button to proceed with completing that MPN. 2. Provide all requested information on the MPN.
  3. Adverse Credit History and Using an Endorser – The U.S. Department of Education performs a credit check on all Direct PLUS Loan applicants because the PLUS Loan applicant cannot have an adverse credit history. If the Department of Education determines the PLUS Loan applicant has an adverse credit history, the applicant will be presented with the option of obtaining an Endorser.  An endorser is someone who does not have an adverse credit history and who agrees to repay a Direct PLUS Loan if the borrower does not repay it.
  4. After you have completed the applicable MPN(s), return to Federal Direct Loan (FDL) Application Steps on the UGA OSFA Website to review the other application steps that must be completed for the type of FDL for which you are applying. Failure to complete all the required steps will prevent loan processing.
