Thrive | Georgia (formally known as the Freshman College Summer Experience) is a summer program designed to foster a smooth transition from high school to college. Thrive participants emerge from the program confident in their ability to successfully navigate the campus and meet the academic challenges in their first year at UGA.

Georgia Resident (In-State) Students:

Georgia resident students and the parents of dependent students must complete the 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order for the student to be considered for the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Subsidized LoanUnsubsidized LoanFederal Parent PLUS Loan and the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship for the Summer 2024 Thrive | Georgia program. The U.S. Department of Education will not process a 2023-24 FAFSA they receive after June 30, 2024!

Georgia resident students and the parents of dependent students must also complete the 2024-25 FAFSA in order to be considered for Federal Student Aid (FSA) and the HOPE or the Zell Miller Scholarship for the 2024-25 Award Year which begins Fall 2024.

Georgia resident students wishing to apply only for the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship should see Georgia Scholarship / Grant Application (GSFAPP).

Non-Resident (Out-of-State) Students:

Non-resident students and the parents of dependent students must complete the 2023-24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order for the student to be considered for Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Subsidized Loan, Unsubsidized Loan, Federal Parent PLUS Loan for the Summer 2024 Thrive | Georgia program. The U.S. Department of Education will not process a 2023-24 FAFSA they receive after June 30, 2024!
