Emergency Support Funds are available to help currently enrolled UGA students who are facing
unexpected and unavoidable emergency expenses. These funds are limited, and the amount a student
may receive depends on their individual financial need and their Cost of Attendance (COA).
Funding availability may also be affected by other federal, state, and institutional aid
the student receives. In most situations, students should use all other available resources—
including federal financial aid—before applying.
These funds are intended to address specific, temporary financial emergencies such as:
- Medical bills
- Replacement of essential belongings lost due to disaster, fire, or theft
- Car repairs
- Personal safety needs (such as changing a lock)
- Medications or other health-related expenses
- Mental health care
- Rent, utilities, or other essential household costs
*Supporting documentation may be requested.
Process
To request support, visit the Student Care and Outreach (SCO) webpage (opens in new tab) and select “Request for Support Funds.”
Applicants are automatically reviewed for eligibility for the following Emergency Funds (criteria may vary by fund):

- VPSA Student Emergency Fund
- Sunshine Fund
- Embark@UGA Support Fund
- CAES Student Emergency Support Fund
- College of Engineering Student Support Fund
- FACS Student Emergency Support Fund

- International Student Emergency Fund
- Odum School of Ecology Emergency Support Fund
- SPIA Student Emergency Support Fund
- Terry College of Business Emergency Support Fund
