Federal Direct Subsidized & Unsubsidized Loan Annual Limits
Annual loan limits are the maximum amounts that a student may receive for the entire Award Year.
Federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans have different annual loan limits based on whether the borrower is an undergraduate, a graduate or a professional student.
An undergraduate student’s Subsidized and Unsubsidized annual loan limits are determined by his or her Grade Level and whether the student is classified as dependent or independent.
Graduate and professional students are not eligible for the Federal Subsidized Loan. Their annual Federal Unsubsidized Loan limits are higher than those for undergraduates.
The actual loan amount that a student is eligible to receive may be less than his or her annual loan limit.
A student’s loan eligibility for a single semester is no more than 50% of his or her annual limit.
