Estimated Awards on Athena

Estimated Awards are NOT a student’s Official Award.  Estimated Awards are created solely for student planning purposes, and these awards (as well as Official Awards when created) are subject to revision due to changes in eligibility.  A student’s 2018-19 Estimated Award will be based on whether he or she has completed the 2018-19 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Process and/or the Georgia Scholarship/Grant Application (GSFAPPS). Although the 2018-19 Estimated Awards use the results of the 2018-19 FAFSA, they are estimated because they use the applicable 2017-18 Award Year Cost of Attendance (COA) and the 2017-18 HOPE Scholarship and the Zell Miller Scholarship award amounts.

In early December 2017, the UGA Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) will begin creating 2018-19 Estimated Awards for the newly admitted first-year (freshmen) students who are to enroll August 2018.  We will begin creating Estimated Awards for all other students in early February 2018.  Students who are still  awaiting admissions decisions may access the Net Price Calculator.

Prior to viewing your Estimated Award in Athena, you must click on the "Terms and Conditions" tab, read the provided information and then click on the Accept button.

Students who are "offered" Federal Work-Study (FWS) and/or Federal Direct Loans on their Estimated Awards cannot accept or decline those funds on the Estimated Award.  If they are later awarded FWS and/or loans on their Official Awards, they will be able to accept or decline those funds on the Official Award.

Students who complete the 2018-19 FAFSA Process and/or the GSFAPPS after we stop generating 2018-19 Estimated Awards and begin creating 2018-19 Official Awards will never receive an Estimated Award.
