Students Transient From UGA
HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarship Transient Process
UGA HOPE and Zell Miller Scholarship recipients attending other HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship eligible institutions as a transient (visiting) student must complete the OSFA HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship Transient Form to request UGA OSFA certification of the student’s HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship eligibility to the Georgia Student Finance Commission’s (GSFC) SURFER website.
Students should print a copy of the completed form for their records.
The financial aid office at the school to which the UGA student is transient can then access SURFER and award the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship to the student based on his or her enrollment at that school.
Students should keep track of the provided deadline for their transient school’s academic transcript to be received by UGA Undergraduate Admissions. Failure to receive the transcript by the deadline date will result in the cancelation and possible repayment of future HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship awards.
Students enrolled in UGA courses during the same semester they are transient to another school will be awarded the HOPE or Zell Miller Scholarship by UGA OSFA for the hours enrolled at UGA; however, the total number of hours for which students can be awarded for the term can neither exceed 15 hours nor the applicable UGA HOPE Award Amount or UGA Zell Miller Scholarship Award Rate.
Students who complete the OSFA HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship Transient Form and subsequently do not enroll at the other school must complete the UGA OSFA Certification of Non Enrollment Form and submit it to OSFA; otherwise, future HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship awards will be subject to cancelation and repayment.
