Federal Work-Study (FWS) Program


Federal Work-Study (FWS) is a Federal Campus-Based Program that provides part-time, mostly on-campus jobs for students.  Student work schedules are usually flexible and planned around the student’s class schedule.  Click here for an in depth review of the Federal Work-Study Program .


Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process.  The UGA Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) will include the FWS amount for which the student is eligible on his or her Award in Athena which the student must then accept or decline.  If accepted, the student must accept both fall and spring semesters.  Students who accept an FWS Award in Athena are e-mailed information in a few days regarding how to access the FWS job list.  It is the student’s responsibility to apply for and be hired into an FWS position before the deadline reflected on the FWS job list.


The maximum FWS award amount is $1,500 per fall and/or spring semester.  The minimum award amount is $750 per fall and/or spring semester.  Employed students will earn $7.90 per hour for the 2017-18 Award Year.

Enrollment Status:

Students enrolled at least half-time generally retain their FWS eligibility for the semester.  Students enrolled less than half-time are not eligible for FWS.
